Now that's jsut more than unfair.

Well Amendment 13 is very interesting. It states that all people that were born in the united states, naturalized or are citizens of the united states have the right to life liberty and the pusrsuit of happiness and no one can take that privilege from them. That is in the first paragraph. It states it clear as day. So why weren't blacks allowed to vote huh? Why did they have to fight for their right to vote and the right to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness?
The constitution was created on July 6 1776 and was ratified in 1789. Why did it take so long for blacks to get the right to vote. In my eyes everyone is equal. It wasn't until the mid 1950's when blacks actually got the right to vote. That just wasn't fair. How could whites be so cruel because of someones skin color.
You know what I don't get? How is that the whites back then wanted blacks and other immigrants to follow the law the rules and the constitution but they didn't follow it themselves. It wasn't just the voting either it was the fact that blacks didn't have the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Blacks were slaves and were property. Black women were a white mans baby barer. Blacks were treated like trash.
Why were blacks treated so much different. Im quite sure they were born in the U.S. Naturalized here and were citizens so why did they go through what they went through. They delt with cruel and unusual punishment. Hanging was cruel burning and black was cruel. Why did they have to go through that? The 8th Amendment says no one should have to deal with cruel and unusual punishment. So what made the blacks different from any normal person. Were they not human. Come on now.
Listen blacks back then were no different from whites. We all have the same things in our body. Everyones blood is red. So no one is different. The blacks fought to get this world at the stand point it is at today. Though it still wasn't fair for blacks to have to go through what they went through. It kind of reminds me of Barack Obama and what he goes through every day. People treat him different and sterotype because he is a black guy running for president. News flash just because he is black doesn't mean he can't turn this world around. I here it everyday, quote " Obama is going to get assaisinated if he gets elected." What type of stuff is that to say. What goes around normally I must say, comes around.

you spelled JUST wrong, hahah. Besides that i agreed with your whole comment. It wasnt fair that black people where treated so unfairly. I dont know why it took so long to give the right to vote to black people. I dont agree with the fact that black people and immigrants had to follow rules that other white people didnt have to follow.

Mimi i agree with everything you said in your blog. it was not fair what blacks had to go through to live a happy free life. why is it that they had to go through so much to be treated equal. everyone is the same no matter what their skin color is.

Your completely right that blacks were treat unfairly. You shouldnt be judged and persecuted for looking different. Everyone should have had equal rights. Why not give everyone the right to vote at the same time? Why was it only men who could vote for who governs the whole country? Why did the blacks and women have to be accounted for separately. I feel glad and lucky that I was born in a teen where i could rest eazy. I am glad i am able to have the right to vote as a black girl/women/female.

Im glad you chose the 13th amendment. It was different than anyone else's point that I've read. You made a really good point. Before reading your blog, i never really thought about putting those 2 together. It made sense but blacks weren't the only ones being mistreated, there were white women too. They were all in the same boat, which made it an easy incentive to work for equal rights for both parties. but good blog though. :]

Really good blog Marissa. I lie that your blog is written as if you were talking to the readers instead of just writing five paragraphs. I completely agree with you on blacks being treated unjustly, when it is clearly in the constitution that everyone is created equal and should pursue happiness

hey! :)
I really liked reading this, it was really good. blacks really were treated terribly, and it's sad to look back on. it took us to long to change the fact too, but atleast now we're almost over the whole discrimination thing, with Obama and all. racism is terrible, and everyone should get along
